Hova Coated tablets Composition
Each tablet contains 202.2 mg of the dry extract of Valerianae (Valerianae extractum siccum), 45.5 mg of the dry extract of Lupuli (Lupuli extractum siccum 5.5:1) and maltodextrin, coloidal silica, glucose syrup, microcrystalline cellulose, titanium dioxide, poliethylene glycol, quinoline yellow lake, indigotin lake. Mechanism of action HOVA tablets contain plant ingredients which make falling asleep easier and exert sedative and mild spasmolytic activities. These ingredients induce or prolong the active phase of the sleep. Administration of the tablets in the recommended doses does not produce risk of drug addiction nor adversely influences psychophysical ability the next day. Therapeutical indications Sleep disturbances and difficulty in falling asleep; tension, anxiety, hyperactivity, nervous exhaustion. The drug is useful as auxiliary treatment of spastic condition of nervous origin in the stomach and intestines. Contraindications The drug is contraindicated in patients unable to tolerate the drug and hypersensitive to any of the components Special warnings and precautions Intake of alcoholic beverages should be avoided when using HOVA tablets. Use in pregnancy and during lactation When a woman becomes pregnant while using the HOVA tablets, advisability of their further usage should be discussed with a doctor. Influence on ability to drive and operate machinery Due to increased tendency to falling asleep it is not recommended to use the formulation in the evening hours by patients who drive cars.
When HOVA is used for the treatment of anxiety in the recommended dose of one tablet, no adverse influence on ability to drive or operate machinery has been determined. Interactions with other drugs Not known. However, it is not recommended to take other formulations possessing hypnotic and sedative activities when taking HOVA tablets. Use and administration
HOVA tablets should be swallowed as a whole and taken with small amount of liquid. In sleep disturbances of neuro-vegetative origin two tablets should be taken 30 minutes before going to bed. In case of tension and anxiety as well as in spastic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract it is recommended to take one tablet one to three times a day.
When it is found necessary to use the formulation in children, the dose should be decreased in proportion to the child?s body weight. Overdose A single intake of many tablets leads to decreased psychophysical ability. Driving is not recommended in such cases. Undesirable effects Not known. However, transient headache, nausea or skin rash cannot be excluded. These effects result from hypersensitivity to drug components.
